Free WinSCP 6.1.11/14/2024 If it finds any, it offers user their deletion. On startup program checks for obsolete temporary folders. New filename modification option: lower case only DOS names (8.3).Size of the translation files reduced by 40% (more than 200 KiB each).User may click on any part of the path to enter that directory (Commander interface only). Path label above file panel is now click-able.During synchronization user may optionally request confirmation before each change.Deleted and overwritten files may be optionally moved to defined remote directory. Remote recycle bin may be configured for session.Function to create new file and open it in default editor. With SFTP the command can open secondary shell session, like with Open Terminal (and other functions), to perform the duplication. Implemented natively only for SCP protocol as SFTP does not have the functionality. New function to duplicate remote files. That was real common in the real original Norton Commander (meaning in character-mode DOS), but if you were expecting behavior like most Windows-based 2-pane file browsers (including many popular FTP clients like WS_FTP), WinSCP will drive you nuts until you either change this drop-down or switch out of Commander mode and go to Explorer integration mode. With the default, to select multiple files, you have to tag them by hitting the space bar on them. In the Panel section, set the "Explorer-style selection" drop-down list to "Mouse and Keyboard." Why this isn't the default in 2008 is beyond me. WinSCP offers a nice range of UI options, but the #1 thing you need to know if you choose the 2-pane "Norton Commander" style is: Go into Preferences, Environment, Commander. For example, the recent crashes on exit (which are fixed in 4.12), the annoying hangs, and the inexcusable port conflicts should have never made it into any release, not even a beta. Good program which IS actively being developed but sometimes a little recklessly.
